King's Valley Faculty

A strong faculty is the backbone of a great school. At King's Valley, our team works together to develop the talents and abilities of our students. Each of our faculty serving in a core area are certified through ACSI and/or the state of California. 

  • Alyssa Stevens

    Miss Stevens earned her BA in Liberal Studies from Simpson University. She joined King's Valley in 2013, and she hopes to instill a desire to know God in her students.

    Alyssa loves to incorporate her creative and musical talents into the classroom. She also strives to use technology in the Kindergarten program in an exciting and meaningful way.

  • Tammy Johnson

    Mrs. Johnson joined the staff at King’s Valley in 2013 as a substitute teacher, teaching all grade levels. In the Fall of 2015, she started teaching Kindergarten. Mrs. Johnson has a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a minor in Rhetoric and Communications from U.C. Davis and an ACSI teaching credential. She encourages her students to build a strong educational foundation while building a personal relationship with God.

  • Marissa Barkley

    Mrs. Barkleyearned her Masters in Teaching from Whitworth University in 2004. She taught elementary school in North Carolina from 2004-2012 before moving to California in 2014. Mrs. Barkley strives to create a nurturing and structured classroom environment in which students enjoy learning. She is excited to incorporate Bible teachings into the curriculum of King's Valley.

  • Irma Gamez

    Mrs. Gamez has been contributing to the success of students at King's Valley since 2010. Mrs. Gamez has taught primarily in kindergarten and first grade. With her degree from Cal Berkeley, and an ACSI teaching credential, Mrs. Gamez is also expecting to finish her California state credential in 2016.

  • Amanda Shinn

    Mrs. Shinn has been teaching at KVCS since 2005. She graduated from Cal. State Sacramento with a BA in Liberal Studies and a minor in Human Development. Mrs. Shinn holds an ACSI teaching credential. She is passionate about making learning fun, engaging, and having students explore all their talents.

  • Marti Maple

    Mrs. Maple has been teaching 2nd grade at King's Valley since 2002 and serving as Assistant Principal since 2006. She has a BA in Communication Studies from UCLA and an MBA from the University of Southern California. After spending fourteen years in non-profit management she received her CA teaching credential from Chapman University and is alsocredentialed through the Association of Christian Schools International. Above all else, Mrs. Maple wants her students to know how well-loved they are by God.

  • Elda Robinson

    Mrs. Robinson has been contributing her talents to Christian education for many years as both a teacher and an administrator. Mrs. Robinson joined the full-time faculty at King's Valley in 2014. She has received her Masters degree in curriculum development and worked on science curriculum for the Association of Christian Schools International. She has experience in both elementary and secondary divisions and enjoys the challenge of each grade level.

  • Juliana Basil

    Mrs. Basil has been serving in Christian education for over ten years, both as a teacher and as an administrator. She earned her bachelors degree in Liberal Studies from Bethany University in 2004 and is finishing her masters degree in Educational Administration from Fort Hays State University. She joined the staff at King's Valley in 2017 and is enthusiastic about teaching third grade. It is her goal that every child in her class loves coming to school and is challenged academically.

  • Genie Garcia

    Mrs. Garcia is a graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University, where she majored in Music with a double-emphasis on both piano and voice. Recently, while working with disadvantaged students in Antioch, she realized her passion for classroom instruction. Returning to school herself, she is currently a student at Western Governors University, where she is majoring in Special Education and will graduate with dual credentials. Mrs. Garcia has an extensive history teaching music in both private and classroom settings. She was married in June 2016 and has an adorable yellow Labrador named Leo.

  • Deborah Franklin

    Miss Franklin graduated from Biola University with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance and finished her teaching credential at Cal State Fullerton. She has taught 4th and 5th grade as well as tutoring K-8 over the course of 27 years in education. Music continues to be a part of her life as she enjoys being the accompanist at her church as well as teaching piano or singing solos. She considers teaching at a Christian school to be a way to glorify God by helping students to know Him better.

  • Martha Hildreth

    Mrs. Hildreth received her BA with a double major In Psychology and Bible from Bethany Bible College. She has taught for over 20 years at King's Valley. In that time, she's been involved in nearly every elementary level and in the preschool running the successful Jump Start program.

  • Andrea Leichliter

    Mrs. Leichliter graduated from Cal State East Bay with a BA in Liberal Studies (option in Early Childhood Development) and a California State Teaching Credential. In 2007 she began her teaching career in the public school system. She joined our staff here at King's Valley in 2009. Over the years she has taught in many grade levels from Kindergarten to 5th Grade!

  • Alex Lafferty

    Mrs. Lafferty has been teaching at King's Valley since 1998. She has a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business Management from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She maintains a California Multi-Subject Teaching Credential and an ACSI teaching credential. She is an avid animal lover and runs the very popular after school science club.

  • Ryan Shields

    Mr. Shields graduated from Biola University in December 2016, receiving a BA in philosophy, biblical studies, and English. He realized his passion for teaching in his philosophy seminars, where students and teachers alike sought truth happily and worshipfully. Next to teaching, he contributes regularly to an online news and review site. In addition, voice acting is one of his hobbies. All of his traning and talents he hopes to leverage in the classroom to create a joyful, thoughtful, and Christ-directed learning experience.

  • Melody Montgomery

    Pastor Melody Montgomery joined King's Valley as part of the preschool in 2014. She graduated from New Hope Christian College in 2004 with her degree in Intercultural Studies, minor in Christian Education. Her teaching experience ranges from birth through high school, both in church and in public schools. Pastor Melody is the Life Kids pastor here at Life Church. She loves to see students of every age grow in their understanding of who God is, who He has made them to be, and how they can change the world for Christ.

  • Justin LeLaCheur

    Pastor Justin LeLaCheur joined the King's Valley staff in the spring of 2012. He finished his BS in Pastoral Studies at New Hope Christian College. Mr. LeLaCheur has pastored youth and families for over 15 years serving as a College Pastor (Spokane Valley, WA), a Youth Pastor (Bend, OR), a Lead Pastor (Santa Rosa, CA), and currently serves as a Staff Pastor at Life Church. He also spent three years working with abused and traumatized children at S.C.A.R./Jasper Mt. Center as a Treatment Team Member, assisting Therapists in therapeutic rehabilitation of families and children. Both creatively and musically gifted, Pastor Justin is motivated to share his passion for the Bible with every student in his class.

  • Nnedi Obembe

    Mrs. Obembe is a graduate of the University of Windsor holding a degree in Science and an ACSI teaching credential. She honed her love for teaching at the community college where she taught sciences such as biology and chemistry. After spending some time away from working in vocations of applied Science, she has decided to return to her love for teaching in the classroom. She loves to help children learn, and make traditionally difficult subjects exciting.

  • Andy Robinson

    Mr. Robinson had more than twenty years of experience as both a teacher and an administrator in Christian schools before joining King's Valley in 2014.  He has a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration. His background includes teaching multiple grade levels and subjects. As an administrator, he has been part of the ACSI accreditation commission and has served on accreditation teams all over the state.

  • Margie Williams

    Margie Williams, theater arts teacher extraordinaire, has been creating a love of the arts at King's Valley since 1999. Margie enjoys having a positive and loving impact on the children at KVCS!

    She has no fear of public speaking herself, so when not on campus she can be found announcing at her sons' sporting events. Recently, she has worked at St. Mary's College and collaborated with the "Travolta" family at a Performing Arts/Film Camp for students with disabilities.

  • Charles Rotenberry

    Mr. Charles is a theatre enthusiast with experience in both Shakespearean and Musical Theatre. He has been serving as Vice President of the Diablo Theatre Company since 2015. He has also been involved with assisting with costuming and garment maintenance for KVCS's Broadway shows. Additionally, Mr. Charles has been volunteering for King's Valley since 2012 and joined the Extended Care team in 2016.

  • Tim Owen

    Pastor Tim Owen graduated from New Hope Bible College in 1998. Since 2009, he has made his home here at King's Valley as athletic director/PE teacher and at Life Church where he is the Associate Pastor. He wants all of his students to know that he loves Jesus, and he is passionate about helping students reach their potential.

  • Mandy LeLaCheur

    Miss Mandy has been a member of the King's Valley team  since 2012 where she began in the Extended Care program. Since 2014, her role has expanded to include the elementary and junior high art programs where she helps students expand their art vocabulary and grow in their talent.

  • Guadalupe Gonzalez

    Mrs. Gonzalez has been teaching here at King's Valley since 2001. She enjoys teaching her students to succeed in reading, writing, and speaking a second language that will further deepen their cultural knowledge.

  • George Curtis Van Liew

    Mr. Van Liew helped pilot the King's Valley band program in 2014. In the fall of 2016, he joins the staff in a bigger role as the band program continues to expand into the junior high! Besides working with the band, Mr. Van Liew is also a talented artist specializing in watercolor.

  • Myrna Aiello

    Mrs. Aiello has been at King's Valley since 2000. She worked in Extended Care in the early years, has been coordinating volunteers and events the best known of which is the Scholastic Book Fair. Mrs. Aiello has a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice specializing in Probation. She has been active in Children's and Youth ministry for over 20 years. She looks forward to continuing to help students with their growth at KVCS and promoting the love God has for us!

  • Lynee Runyon

    Mrs. Runyon has been a part of the King's Valley family for 17 years. She started off as the Technology & Library teacher in 2001. Over the years, Mrs. Runyon has worked as a substitute teacher in all grades, as well as in the Extended Care program. She is married and has two children; one is a former student and the other currently attends KVCS. Mrs. Runyon is excited about returing to the Technology Department this year and feels blessed to be able to work with the awesome students and staff at King's Valley.
